Danstar Nottingham Yeast - The Nottingham strain was selected for its highly flocculant (precipitating) and relatively full attenuation (transforming sugar into alcohol) properties. It produces low concentrations of fruity and estery aromas and has been described as neutral for an ale yeast, allowing the full natural flavor of malt to develop. Good tolerance to low fermentation temperatures, 14°C (57°F), allow this strain to brew lager-style beer. Recommended 14° to 21°C (57° to 70°F) fermentation temperature range. $1.95 In stock now!

We are pleased to offer Oregon Yamhill Pinot Noir as part of our Estate Series line once again! This great varietal comes from the Oregon Yamhill County region which has been producing outstanding Pinot Noir for some time now.

Yamhill County, poised between the cooling Pacific breezes to the west and the Willamette River to the east, makes some of the best. This remarkable wine creates a lasting impression on the palate and in the memory. Intense ripe-grape, mint, raspberry and black cherry aromas, along with smoky yet elusive oak make this a medium-bodied and rich wine. High in alcohol, it has intense flavour despite its delicacy. Like liquid silk, gently caressing the palate, the refined tannins are compelling, yet rounded. The intense varietal character is brilliantly expressed by our unique strain of yeast, which allows the true fruit to shine through this highly focused and delicious wine.

Selection Estate Series Oregon Yamhill County Pinot Noir is now available!

Better Bottle - Unbreakable, light weight Better-Bottle bottles are safer and easier to use, wash, and sanitize than glass containers. Small-scale winemaking and brewing has never been so convenient. Don't think of Better-Bottle bottles as plastic - think of them as flexible glass, because they are made from a special, scientifically tested, type of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Most other plastics are unacceptable for making wine or brewing beer.

    • Flexible Glass - Unbreakable
    • Negligible oxygen permeability
    • Meets FDA requirements with Kosher statement
    • No taste or odor
    • Clear and colorless
    • Extremely stain resistant
    • Smooth, non-porous, non-absorbing surface

Better Bottle is designed for convenience. Wide, uniform neck makes filling much more convenient and closures fit more reliably.
    • Extremely light weight and easy to handle - about 1.5 lbs empty!
    • Inexpensive to ship - extra packaging and insurance are unnecessary

  • THE WHIP WINE DEGASSER We've come to rely on Fermtech products making life easier when it comes to producing beer and wine. Their latest invention, The Whip, is no exception. Manufactured from rigid, food grade plastic, it attaches to any standard household drill, making mixing and degassing wine a breeze. The Whip is different from other degassers in the way it is made. The solid rod is molded in a hook shape and the end that goes into the drill is tapered so it slides easily into the drill, with no pins to snap off. $6.95

  • pH METERS FROM HANNA INSTRUMENTS Properly balanced acid levels or pH is important for making both quality beer and wine. Accurately calculating pH hasn't been very easy, that is until now. Hanna Instruments has led the world in innovative technology for over two decades. They understand that measurement and controlling equipment must be well built and perform with high reliability. The Checker 1 and pHep 5 are two of their pH meters that accurately and easily calculate the pH of your mash or must within a range of 0.00 to 14.00. The Checker 1 is a simple meter that provides fast and accurate pH measurement at an affordable price. The unit is easy to calibrate, uses a replaceable pH electrode, and works for 3,000 hours before you have to change the batteries. It is very handy to have around.
